  • E-facturatie wordt verplicht voor binnenlandse en grensoverschrijdende B2B-transacties (1juli 2030);
  • Digitale rapportage van grensoverschrijdende transacties, waaronder intracommunautaire verwervingen (1 juli 2030);

  • Breng uw huidige facturatiestromen in kaart.
  • Breng uw btw-processen in kaart.

E-Invoicing in the Netherlands from 2030: The Impact as of 2026

The introduction of e-invoicing is getting closer. The Dutch government has announced that electronic invoicing for business transactions in the Netherlands will become mandatory as of 1 July 2030. Digital reporting of domestic B2B transactions to the Dutch Tax Administration will follow one year later. What does this mean for your business, and what can you do now to prepare?

The key announced changes are:

  • E-invoicing will become mandatory for domestic and cross-border B2B transactions (1 July 2030);
  • Digital reporting of cross-border transactions, including intra-Community acquisitions (1 July 2030);
  • Digital reporting of domestic B2B transactions (1 July 2031).

The exact requirements and practical implications are still being worked out. Further details will be developed over the coming period. However, one thing is already clear: invoicing will become more than just an administrative task carried out after a transaction has taken place. Invoices will need to be created, processed and exchanged digitally in the correct format. The information reported to the Dutch Tax Administration will also need to match the data in your accounting records.

This requires appropriate administrative processes and extensive automation to minimise the risk of errors. It is also important that the ERP system contains the correct and relevant data. Ultimately, other software packages or technical configurations may also be required.

To ensure a smooth implementation, we recommend taking proactive steps to ensure that your administration and the underlying processes are technically compliant from a VAT perspective. This will help reduce implementation risks.

Recommended steps to prepare

  • Map your current invoicing flows.
  • Check your customer and supplier data. Ensure that all relevant information is recorded completely and accurately in your administration.
  • Map your VAT processes. Implement a decision tree that automatically determines which VAT code should be applied to sales invoices based on the correct data.
